Two things change at once when you eat substantially less.* Tryptophan intake falls with total food intake, and tryptophan is the precursor the body uses to make serotonin. And rapid weight loss is a physiological stress, which affects cortisol. TAKE Rest pairs melatonin at 5mg per capsule with a 905mg botanical sleep blend led by L-tryptophan. What that blend contains, and what the manufacturer will not tell us about it, is published below.
Before You Take Rest
This formula contains St. John's Wort, 5-HTP and L-Tryptophan. All three affect serotonin, and St. John's Wort changes how the liver processes many medications. Please read this before ordering.
If you use hormonal contraception. St. John's Wort can reduce its effectiveness, with documented cases of contraceptive failure. Speak to your provider before taking Rest.
If you take an antidepressant. This includes SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs and tricyclics. Combining them with St. John's Wort, 5-HTP or L-Tryptophan carries a risk of serotonin syndrome, which is serious. Do not take Rest without speaking to your prescriber.
If you take any prescription medication. St. John's Wort can make a wide range of drugs less effective by speeding up how quickly your body clears them. Show this label to your pharmacist or prescriber first.
If you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or nursing. This formula is not suitable for you.
We would rather lose the sale than have you take something that works against your medication.
GLP-1 Disrupts Sleep. Rest Was Built for That Specifically.
GLP-1 patients describe a recognizable sleep pattern: exhausted during the day, unable to fall asleep at night, waking frequently, not feeling rested despite adequate time in bed. If it persists, it is worth raising with your prescriber rather than managing alone. There are plausible physiological reasons for it, rooted in tryptophan availability and cortisol.*
Most sleep supplements reach for sedation.TAKE Rest was built for the mechanism.
Many sleep aids are melatonin on its own. Rest pairs melatonin at 5mg per capsule with a fourteen-ingredient botanical blend led by L-tryptophan, the dietary precursor to serotonin and the ingredient present in the largest amount.*

Ingredient Breakdown
Melatonin 5mg per capsuleInvolved in circadian signaling.* This is the only active in Rest whose amount the manufacturer discloses. The label serving is 2 capsules (10mg). Start with 1 capsule (5mg) about three hours before you intend to sleep, and move to 2 capsules (10mg) if you need deeper support.*
L-TryptophanThe first ingredient listed in the sleep blend. Under labeling rules a blend is listed in descending order of amount, so L-tryptophan is the largest of the fourteen. Tryptophan is the dietary precursor the body uses to make serotonin, and intake falls when total food intake falls, which is the reason it leads this formula.*
Vitamin B6, Calcium and MagnesiumDisclosed separately on the label at 1.8mg, 17mg and 13mg per 2-capsule serving. Small amounts, stated because they are stated.
On The Proprietary Blend
What we can and cannot tell youRest uses a 905mg proprietary sleep blend, which means the manufacturer discloses the ingredients but not the individual amounts. In order of predominance the blend is L-Tryptophan, Lycium, Chamomile, Lemon Balm, Passion Flower, L-Taurine, Hops, St. John's Wort, GABA, Chinese Skullcap, L-Theanine, Ashwagandha, Inositol and 5-HTP. Ashwagandha sits twelfth on that list and 5-HTP sits last, which means they are among the smallest components of the blend. Earlier versions of this page described Rest as an ashwagandha and 5-HTP formula. That was not accurate and we have corrected it. We would rather publish exact quantities, and we have asked for them. Until we have them, this is what we do and do not know. Rest is manufactured in the United States, in an FDA-registered facility.
Take 1 to 2 capsules about three hours before you intend to sleep. Start with 1 capsule (5mg melatonin) and move to 2 capsules (10mg) if you need deeper support. A bottle is 60 capsules: 60 nights at one capsule, 30 at two.

Common Questions
Why can't I sleep on Ozempic?GLP-1 sleep disruption has two mechanisms: lower food intake reduces tryptophan, which lowers serotonin and affects sleep onset, and the physiological stress of rapid weight loss can elevate cortisol, keeping the nervous system alert at night.*
Does Ozempic cause anxiety? Some people report mood changes on GLP-1 medications. The reasons are not well established, though cortisol elevation during rapid weight loss is one proposed explanation. If you're experiencing persistent anxiety, talk with your healthcare provider.*
How much melatonin should I take?TAKE Rest provides 5mg of melatonin per capsule, and the label serving is 2 capsules (10mg). Start with 1 capsule (5mg) about three hours before you intend to sleep, and move to 2 capsules (10mg) if you need deeper support.*
How much ashwagandha is in Rest?We do not know, and neither does anyone outside the manufacturer. Ashwagandha sits twelfth of the fourteen ingredients inside a 905mg proprietary blend. Ingredient order on a blend is descending by weight, so it is among the smallest components present, and the amount is well below the doses used in published trials of ashwagandha on its own. Melatonin at 5mg per capsule is the only active in Rest whose amount the manufacturer discloses.*
Can I take Rest with my antidepressant or birth control?Speak to your prescriber first. Rest contains St. John's Wort, which can reduce the effectiveness of hormonal contraception and interacts with SSRIs, SNRIs and other antidepressants. It also contains 5-HTP and L-Tryptophan, which affect serotonin. Do not combine these with an antidepressant without medical advice.*
